Genuine Hitachi Nissan R35 GT-R VR38DETT Ignition Coil
Ignition coil sold individually. The matching 3-pin connector kit is available as an option.
Further to R35 GT-R applications, these coils have become increasingly popular in recent years as a coil-on-plug upgrade for a number of engines such as Nissan RB, Mistubishi 4G63T, Toyota 20V 4A-GE etc. Coil adapter plates and distributor blank-off covers are readily available from a number of suppliers.
These coils have an internal igniter (often referred to as a ‘smart’ coil), removing the need for an external ignition module.
Our testing has found that these coils are capable of producing over 50mJ of spark energy at appropriate dwell levels. From our testing, this is close to double the output of a stock Nissan RB coil and approximately 45% more spark energy than a Toyota 2NZ/2ZZ coil at similar primary current levels.
